To all who addresses his holiness the 14th Dalai Lama as "Dalai", please I urge you to travel outside China and see with your own eyes, not through your government"s eyes. Observe it like an educated person would do. Don"t let government eat your brain completely. Be yourself, and you find out the truth yourself. His holiness has always been the greatest peacemaker, ever. Just explore it yourself, but it can be done only after you come out of China and with an open mind. Good luck. My sympathy i... Are you insane? How can you ignore the 50 million people of Chinese ancestry who have lived overseas for generations? How can you assume every Chinese in the world are "controlled" by the Chinese government. I am afraid that it is not the Chinese who are ignorant. It is you, unfortunately. Your statements show how biased you are after having immersed in biased reports of our media for a long time. I want to repeat what I said before. We living in the west must learn the history, culture, and lan... (More details.)

If the Tibetans want independence, why not return it to them? What is it about the Han that they cannot tolerate dissent? What is it about Tibet that makes the Han want it so bad? The constant bad-mouthing of Dalai Lama does the Han cause no good in international opinion. I know this comment will never see the light of day in a Chinese newspaper.

Dalai lama is a scam, using religion to decieve westerner.
Western countries wish to see a divided China are quick to support him. Never fall into his old trick. Remember according to survey carried out majority of American wish Tibet to be independent. All chinese overseas and aboard will prevent this from happening.

I suspect the lama is a bit self centered, he seems to be some kind of nuisance here for the neighbourhood. Cant people live in their contry peacefully. In any society there a few things which are not well and comfortable. Its better to strive for change being a part of it than become a nuisance staying out. This man is lucky that India tolerates even extreme people.

I find it disconcerting the poster does not know the difference between nonviolence and protecting oneself.

This article is full with hate and dislike towards Dalai Lama. This is obvious. They play the same old recording in People,s daily.

History is a documentation of events that have occurred in the past. Do you understand? That"s historical facts about China/Tibet and Dalai Lama. In the case of the west, journalists there fabricate new stuff like writing novels.

Who likes him in China? A cruel slave master! But he is well liked in the west? How come?

Do you care to study about China and its provinces before making comments? Don"t comment if you do not learn more about China. The history got documented for centuries even before the establishment of the communist party. Everything is very different than what is reported in the media of the west, which didn"t even know that China is composed of many many ethnic groups with different languages. This is the fact that has existed for 3,000 years but journalists in the west did not understand it.

Tibet: The Shangri-La that exists only in the West
With the Olympics over, I hope the Western sport of bashing China over Tibet might stop.
Working in Beijing during the Tibet riots and the preparations for the Olympics gave me a unique perspective. Growing up with Western media and Hollywood, I am used to our embrace of the Dalai Lama. Being in China, I saw the Chinese point of view.
Seeing both sides suggests the need to abandon simplistic political stances in favor of some self-reflection a... (More details.)

Although we should criticize China"s censored media, the Tibet riots revealed some troubling blindness among our own media. While the cau... (More details.)

Hello to everybody. I am an Italian visitor, and I really must say that I am very fed up with all the propaganda I hear against China by listening to our media.
Chinese Government has the right to act as it does, to preserve the unity of the country and to ensure that the law is respected.
In our European countries we see some people commit horrible crimes to destabilize a state (i.e. because they want a region to become independent or just because they are anarchists). Even unimportant circumst... (More details.)

FYI, this was not written by an Italian person, it has the grammatical structure of Chinese. If your censors want to pretend to be people from other countries, at least get someone who can think like an Italian.

you very interestingly play on words here in this article,I wonder if you would expect the same leadership control if the Chinese president was in exile??? (interesting thought ??)

Say what you will and as long as you like. The fact remains the this Dalia lama is a Liar.
Any day he has the guts to stop hobbling around in his robe and sit down and talk to the Opposition as a human being and not as some fake demigod. Will be the day that this fear of his losing control of his power will recede and people can go on about their daily lives.
He is anti democracy and is a legal Chinese Citizen.
He himself says he is Chinese. Perhaps he might act like one and show a little cour... (More details.)

Updated, 11:30 p.m. | As thousands of people, mostly of Tibetan and Nepalese ancestry, streamed out of Radio City Music Hall on Thursday afternoon, where they had gone to hear the Dalai Lama give a lecture on the Four Noble Truths of Buddhism, they found themselves in a chaotic scene on the Avenue of the Americas.
About 200 members of a Buddhist sect, the Western Shugden Society, were outside the hall protesting the Dalai Lama, who they said had persecuted monks who supported the sect. Some amon... (More details.)

there was an article by Richard M. Bennett, Intelligence Security Consultant with AFI Research several months ago which included information by a former high level Indian Government Intelligence officer, stating that the Dalai has been closely connected with the CIA since the 1950"s.

I think China should undertake a crash program to MIRV our nuclear missiles, so the US will learn not to interfere in China"s domestic affairs.
