People in America need to realize jus what got America in this shape…”cheap” yes so-call cheap items from a foreign land.
quote*Wal-Mart firmly believes in local procurement. We recognize that by purchasing quality products, we can generate more job opportunities, support local manufacturing and boost economic development. Over 95% of the merchandise in our stores in China is sourced locally. We have established partnerships with nearly 20,000 suppliers in China. *end quote!
Now! if there ... (More details.)

Thank you for the invitation. Unfortunately, it is difficult for foreign friends to experience the real China in the face of visa hassles and a ban on travel to Tibetan areas.

As an USA American we have visited China 3 times. We enjoy China and love the people and the friendliness of each individual. We have found, just as travel in our country, get off the main street and visit the people. The people of China are willing visit with you and share ideas. Also we found many beautiful products made in China that you will NEVER find at Wal Mart (and we shop there too).
I am anxious to return to China and will go ASAP.
PS we are also the adoptive grandparents of 5 from... (More details.)

Dear Bjarleth USA
It"s a great pleasure to know that you have visited China 3 times. I am an overseas chinese residing in the ASEAN region. My father came from Fujian in China, yet I have never been back to China except for a short overnight trip to Shenzhen in 2006.
China is a huge country and managing its people is no easy task. You cannot open everything all at one time, you need to do it slowly.
Be patient as little by little policies should improved for the well being of the people there.

I will tell you the problem with the so called "Friends of Tibet"
.
After traveling on several occasions to Tibet, I encountered the following.
Tibetan minorities and Han Chinese operating business, living together, cooperating with each other.
Nowhere did I meet discontent. In fact I saw in Kham and other places the majority of businessmen were of Tibetan decent.
In Lhasa many business owners are Tibetans.
What I met on my journeys which was highly disturbing were American individuals who had... (More details.)

Can people from other countries visit France, Great Britain or the US freely without a visa? Have you seen the faces and attitudes of the arrogant staff of the US consulate general in many developing countries? Even before 911, any applicants in developing countries for a student or tourist visa have to cope with the hassles and sometimes disrespect of the staff of the visa office. You for sure will be scrutinized as if you are a terrorist, or you have intention to stay illegally. I have many fr... (More details.)

"Millions of people around the world never see the facts."
I agree fully! Remove visa restrictions and allow free travel to Tibet by anyone!

Sure Chinese products are improving and many have room for further improvement. But people should not put down Chinese products or Walmart. Both Chinese companies and Walmart are doing their business - reducing the product cost and then price to stay competitive. If Walmart does not source these products from China, it will source them from Vietnam, Mexico, or in the past Hong Kong, Taiwan, and South Korea. Before the production centers have moved to the developing countries, the United States m... (More details.)

I often shop at Walmart and Canadian Tires stores in Toronto, Canada; these stores carry 15%-25%( I estimate) of their products made in China.
Chinese made products have been improved over the years, especially home tools. But there are a lot of products which need improvement.

If you are willing or can afford to pay, you can get expensive famous international brands anywhere in the world, rather than shopping in Walmart. I went to Walmart usually to buy stuff for my car, and for cleaning my house only. I agree the quality of products sold in Walmart is not that good, but cheap - meeting the budget of many people in America.

" My son lives and works in Beijing and even that is not enough for me to want to visit this country. We have China over here. It is called Walmart!"
I absolutely agree, and I rarely shop at that disgusting store!

One world, one dream! Malcious slandering and anti-China activities by a few people would NOT prevent the Chinese people and those all over the world enjoy the Games! Friendship will grow and friends are everywhere!

Good for you. No one force you to. Go to Sears instead and pay more for it. There is nothing wrong to go to SEARS. Although a lot of the products are still made outside of America. Maybe not in China. Do not gripe, no one force you to buy it. Whinners.

Visiting or not, it is up to you! Just find something you like to do. China will welcome and serve its guests well. For those who do not want to visit China for some reasons, you do not have to do it. It is your right and your choice! China just does not care who wants to or does not want to come. Life is like that! Please continue to enjoy your life anywhere you live! Take care!

Does anyone think it is strange, that China is winning most of the gold medals this year? Some of the Chinese competitors are excellent in their fields, but all of them? It will be interesting to see how they do in London or in Spain!

Please tell us what a "real China" is in reality and in your minds? No ideas? Then what yardsticks do you use for comparison? Whether China is really good or bad, perhaps you should go to take a look and tell us next time. Thank you.

Congratulations to the Chinese People on the wonderful Beijing Olympic Games. The games and hospitality of the Chinese People are quite impressive. The Chinese athletes are having a tremendous Olympics. As an architect I am amazed by the world class facilities. Those buildings are well designed and constructed by the finest architects in the world. I have enjoyed watching the Olympics on TV immensely. Thank you for such an outstanding event.
