The European Union is becoming much more reliant on China to steer their economies out of the "global recession" by strengthening its relationships with China.
In the future, its evident that China will challenge the U.S as a superpower; if the EU rebels against China now, it could threaten their economic interest in the future to come.
I believe this is a smart decision by the EU, despite the fact that morally speaking Tibet should become a sovereign state.
